Ruth Simmons Stepping Down as President of Brown

President Simmons Stepping Down...What's Next?

By now you’ve heard about Brown President Ruth Simmons’ plans to step down at the end of the school year.  What does that mean for Black alums and future alums? What will we do as a community to honor President Simmons’ service to the University?  With regard to succession, what are the qualities and characteristics of leadership you want in the 19th president of Brown University?  Are there individuals you believe are suitable candidates? The IPC Leadership Team is considering several possibilities for ways in which we will honor President Simmons before her departure from the presidency, and we invite the IPC alumni community’s help in this process. Of course, what we do will depend upon President Simmons’ schedule over the next several months. Once we have vetted all possibilities, we will announce definitive plans along with ways you can participate. We invite you to post your questions, comments, and suggestions below.
